An evergreen, compact shade-loving plant that forms a rounded mound.  From April-June it produces long lasting acid-yellow blooms that contrast beautifully with the strappy purple foliage. It will perform in a border or as a statement in a pot.  If you have poor dry soil in partial shade it is great as groundcover, where other plants would struggle. Looks lovely planted alongside spring flowering narcissus bulbs. If you do not want it to self seed cut back he faded flower stems.  This plant is toxic so must never be eaten and always wear gloves when handling as the milky sap can be an irritant to eyes and skin.  Any unwanted seedlings can easily be remove when young. Fully hardy.
