Description
A compact evergreen shrub with narrow fragrant grey-green leaves and highly fragrant spikes of deep purple flowers in summer. It requires full sun to part shade and a neutral to alkaline, free draining soil, but it is drought tolerant. The flowers should be cut back as they start to fade, this helps to keep the plant in shape and prevents it becoming straggly with a bare base. This species is really valued, due to the high quality of oil, the vivid hue of the flowers and the scent is outstanding. It is fully hard and copes with even the harshest winter. It works well in a border or planted as a companion plant among roses, also as a short hedge. A great pollinator for bees and butterflies. H50cm x 60cm.
