Description
A very vigorous deciduous climber with light pink flowers up to 7cms. The four petals are slightly overlapped and paler on their edges the centre has lemon stamens. It flowers from May through June, with an occasional second flowering later in the year. The leaves are large and tinted bronze with reddish-brown stems. It requires fertile moist but well drained soil, in a position where the roots are shaded by other plants or a slate at the base to keep them cool, and their flowers are in the sun. As with many clematis plant deeper than the crown level to encourage shooting below ground. Prune to maintain size and shape. Great for covering structures, fencing, up trellising and next to a pathway to appreciate the flowers and vanilla scent.
